Braintree Municipal Golf Course is a Public 18 holes golf course located in Braintree, Massachusetts.
Braintree Municipal Golf Course first opened for play in 1945. Sam Mitchell designed eleven new holes and redesigned the others in the 1960's
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6423 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5751 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-5 that plays to 526 Yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 16, a par-3 that plays to 181 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 11, a 421 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 1, a 329 yard par-4.
This course's greens on the front nine are small compared to the large ones on the back nine. Some of the par 3's are exceptionally long. Water hazards (lakes, creeks, and ponds) come into play on twelve holes. The signature hole is #3, a 196-yard, par 3, requiring an uphill tee shot to a well-bunkered and undulating green.

Pro Shop had new computer system which the clerk wasn't familiar with causing a 20 minute delay to sign in. Line to sign in had to be 15-20 deep. I checked my reciept and I was double charged. Course itself is enjoyable with lots of water.

The course has some great holes. They have some good specials. Probably one of the better municipal courses you will play in Massachusetts.

I was a member for a few years. Very good course. A few holes redesigned. Water everywhere, but straight hitters are mostly fine. Slicers will have problems. Great greens - huge. I thought this was a Donald Ross course, it used to be advertised as such; maybe I am wrong though. Course if flat, easy to walk. I did have somebody (kids in proshop working) give away my tee time a few times....ie 10am on Saturday or Sunday. They said it must've been a coincidence their 'fiends' had it. So, living nearby I swung by to book tee times. We caught them erasing the schedule (used to be on paper). Then other kids would just say 'you must have canceled'.... At one point the had a no smoking policy on the enttire course, but the starter was a chainsmoker.....but check before you book. But al in all it is a great muni course and worth a trip. Some of the fairways are pretty narrow, but abain the greens are huge and always in great shape.
